Applications to Perform at the 2011 Conference

 

Dear Music Colleague,

 

Thank you for your interest in applying to be considered for a featured evening concert at the Michigan Music Conference, an In-Service for Music Educators.  The MMC Planning Committee wants to encourage music programs from school districts, college, university, community and professional levels to apply.  Music education is strong in Michigan and the conference wishes to feature the high levels of excellence that exists throughout our state.

 

The evening concerts will be considered in two different categories:  Featured Ensemble or Educational Institution Showcase.  Specifics for each category are as follows: 

 

Featured Ensemble

If a performing ensemble would like to be considered for a featured performance they would submit the appropriate application and recording for consideration.  After reviewing applications and listening to recordings a concert will be designed featuring a variety of performing ensembles and placed on either the Thursday or Friday evening concert.  Ensembles from any level may be considered for the featured ensemble concert.

 

Educational Institution Showcase

The purpose of the Showcase is to feature a variety of performing ensembles (minimum of three (3) ensembles) from one educational institution.  Special focus may be placed on traditional as well as non-traditional performance presentations.  School districts could feature general music, instrumental (band and orchestra) and vocal ensembles in their showcase.  College, community, university or professional organizations could include instrumental (band and orchestra), vocal and other non-traditional presentations/performances.  After reviewing applications and recordings, a single institution would be selected to present the Thursday or Friday evening concert.   

Any group selected to perform at the Michigan Music Conference must agree to the following:

  • Selected performers will be supported by their instructional/professional administration.

  •  All participants who perform at the Michigan Music conference must be in good standing in the institution’s music program.

  • If selected to perform, it is understood all expenses incurred for this concert will be taken care of by the parties selected to perform.

  • All student performers will be appropriately supervised while at the conference.
