SB-CEU Credit Information

  1. SB-CEU Credits Available

The Michigan Music Educators Association (MMEA) is the official sponsor of SB-CEUs at MMC.

Participants in the 2012 Michigan Music Conference – An In-Service for Music Educators (MMC) and the Technology Conference can register to receive State Board Continuing Education Units (SB-CEU) for events attended at the conference.

If you already paid/registered to receive SB-CEUs, you will receive the form upon your check-in at the registration desk. Please refer to the listing of events to see the SB-CEU credits available for individual events: SB-CEU Schedule

Fee: A flat fee of $25 is required for the administration of all credits earned. You may purchase your SB-CEUs ahead of time with your registration, or you may purchase onsite at the conference.

How Credits are Determined: Credits are approved based on the number of “contact minutes” during a session. Most of our regular workshop sessions are 45 “contact minutes.” In order to receive 1.0 SB-CEU, the State Board of Education mandates that a participant must have 10 hours or 600 minutes of contact time. A minimum of 5 hours of contact time (.5 credits) is required to earn SB-CEU credit. A maximum of 25 hours (2.5 credits) is allowed. Please refer to the listing of events to see the SB-CEU credits available for individual events: SB-CEU Schedule

SB-CEU Eligibility Form: SB-CEU Eligibility forms are available at the registration desk. If you pre-registered for SB-CEUs, you will be given the form with your registration. Your form must be initialed by the presider or student monitor of each session; it will only be signed if you arrive on time and stay for the full session. Failure to do this will result in loss of earned contact time. Complete the form and turn it into the SB-CEU desk before you leave the conference. We cannot accept forms mailed to us following the conference.

SB-CEU Certificate: After your form is returned to the SB-CEU desk in the registration area, we will add all your “contact hours,” divide by 10, and this will determine the number of credits you have earned. In the weeks following the conference, you will receive an e-mail. You must complete an online evaluation within 30 days from receiving the e-mail to be awarded SB-CEUs. You will then be able to retrieve your transcript online. It is up to you to present the transcript with your other SB-CEU or college credits earned to the State of Michigan for certificate renewal.

If you have any further questions, please contact the MMC office at 414-908-4958 or check with the staff at the SB-CEU desk at the conference.
