State Continuing Education Clock Hours Information

  1. State Continuing Education Clock Hours Available

The Michigan Music Education Association (MMEA) is the official sponsor of State Continuing Education Clock Hours at MMC.

Participants in the 2013 Michigan Music Conference – An In-Service for Music Educators (MMC) and the Technology Conference can register to receive State Continuing Education Clock Hours for events attended at the conference.

If you already paid/registered to receive State Continuing Education Clock Hours, you will receive the form upon your check-in at the registration desk. Please refer to the listing of events to see the State Continuing Education Clock Hours available for individual events.

Fee: A flat fee of $25 is required for the administration of all earned. You may purchase your State Continuing Education Clock Hours ahead of time with your registration, or you may purchase onsite at the conference.

How Hours are Determined: The term SB-CEUs is no longer being used by the Michigan Department of Education.  The new term, “State Continuing Education Clock Hours,” now refers to the number of hours you spend attending a session.  Under the old system, contact hours had to be converted into credits using a multiplier.  This is no longer necessary and, as such, the number of contact hours spent in a session is the exact number of hours you will be granted.  A minimum of 5 contact hours is required to earn credit.  You can earn no more than 25 hours for your attendance at the MMC.  Please refer to the listing of events to see the State Continuing Education Clock Hours available for individual events.

State Continuing Education Clock Hours Eligibility Form: State Continuing Education Clock Hours Eligibility forms are available at the registration desk. If you pre-registered for State Continuing Education Clock Hours, you will be given the form with your registration. Your form must be initialed by the presider or student monitor of each session; it will only be signed if you arrive on time and stay for the full session. Failure to do this will result in loss of earned contact time. Complete the form and turn it into the State Continuing Education Clock Hours desk before you leave the conference. We cannot accept forms mailed to us following the conference.

State Continuing Education Clock Hours Certificate: After your form is returned to the State Continuing Education Clock Hours desk in the registration area, it will be processed with the Dept. of Education. In the weeks following the conference, you will receive an e-mail. You must complete an online evaluation within 30 days from receiving the e-mail to be awarded State Continuing Education Clock Hours. Per Department of Education rules, if you do not complete your evaluation within 30 days your earned contact hours will be forfeited. There are no exceptions. You will then be able to retrieve your transcript online. It is up to you to present the transcript with your other State Continuing Education Clock Hours or college earned to the State of Michigan for certificate renewal.

If you have any further questions, please contact the MMC office at 414-908-4958 or check with the staff at the State Continuing Education Clock Hours desk at the conference.
